Holaluz and Aquila Clean Energy sign a PPA for a solar park in Toledo
March 13, 2023
- The solar park is located in Pepino and Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) county. Its commissioning is due March 2024 and will produce more than 45 GWh of 100% clean energy per year.
Barcelona, 13 February 2023. Holaluz, an energy transition technology company, and Aquila Clean Energy, a company that develops and operates renewable energy projects with a focus on solar and wind, signed a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) for a solar park of around 22 MWs in Pepino and Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) county.
Holaluz will buy the park's renewable energy production, the commissioning of which is scheduled for March 2024 and expected to produce more than 45 Gwh of 100% clean energy per year. This is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of around 13,000 Spanish homes and will save 13,300 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
The PPA is also part of Aquila Clean Energy’s strategy to promote Spain’s energy transition and achieve a more sustainable future. This photovoltaic park is part of the more than 650 MW portfolio managed by the company in Castilla-La Mancha, and the total of 3 GW that Aquila Clean Energy manages in Spain, along with projects under development, construction and operation in all of the country. Following Marcos Domínguez, Iberia Head of Power Hedging & Research at Aquila Clean Energy, "this new PPA with Holaluz shows our commitment to Spain's energy transition through clean energy generation. This type of energy purchase agreement is a fundamental tool for achieving this goal, even more so in the current era of volatility and uncertainty."
Holaluz's one-of-a-kind value proposition is based on the unique combination of two businesses: connecting people to 100% green energy and transforming every roof into a renewable energy producer via The Roof Revolution - a circular system that exponentially increases Holaluz's positive impact on people and the planet.
This project is also aligned with the company's ESG strategy, which aims at contributing to the promotion of local and small-scale energy production, both with rooftop and ground-mounted installations within the small generators collaboration program. In addition, it takes the company one step closer to achieving the Net Zero objectives and climate neutrality prior to the commitments established by the European Union.
A PPA defines the energy seller and buyer terms, such as payment deadlines, delivery schedule, etc. This type of contract is common in large-scale power generation projects.
